Monica Womack

Monica grew up on south side of Chicago and graduated from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville. She has worked as a sales associate, journalist, and a public affairs officer for the United States Army. After earning an undergraduate degree in Radio and Television Broadcasting at Chicago State University, Monica was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army Reserve where she would serve more than three decades as a Lab Technician, Logistician, and Public Affairs Officer among other jobs. Monica’s 2015 breakout documentary, The Yellow Ribbon, highlighted the Army’s Yellow Ribbon Program, a program designed to help soldiers and family members navigate the deployment cycle. She has also published articles in the Suburban Journal, Warrior Citizen Magazine, The MIRC Magazine and Soldiers Magazine. She recently retired from the United States Army where she served as team chief for the Army’s Media Relations Team.

Monica currently lives in Northern Virginia where she is working on documentaries that enlighten and inspire communities within the Chicago, New York and Washington, DC areas.
